Helping You Do The Damn Thing.
From product development in apparel to music distribution — my experience continues to vary. But there is one common theme: the ability to organize and execute.
Meet Erica Sinkovic
Erica Sinkovic has been working in the digital music space since 2009, starting in metadata delivery at Redeye Distribution in her home state of North Carolina. After opening the Brooklyn-based satellite office, she transitioned to Head of Digital at Glassnote Entertainment.
After moving to Portland, Oregon in 2013, Erica volunteered to get XRAY.FM - a community-operated non-profit radio station - off the ground and into the airwaves while simultaneously taking on Product Development at DIY giant, CD Baby.
In 2016, Erica began volunteering with Women in Music, which led to the launch of the first Portland Chapter with Co-Founder Mallory Zumbach in 2018.
Most recently Erica was a proud member of the Amazon Music for Artists team and is currently taking a hiatus to focus on special projects.
IN MY OWN WORDS
Let me tell you a story…
-
Redeye Distribution (now Redeye Worldwide) was my entrance into the music industry. My very first job was to digitize the ENTIRE Hydra Head catalog AND the ENTIRE Kill Rock Stars catalog…every single release. Ever. And then to add the correct metadata to every track and deliver both catalogs to each DSP we worked with at the time. Little did the company know that my little digital department-of-one would become 30% of the company’s revenue within 3 years.
Reading through XML files and understanding what promotional placements different DSPs offered was how I proactively grew digital at Redeye. Though many were reluctant of the digital wave of change coming our way, I found labels and partners that were willing to take chances with me - and it paid off.

I had the great honor to join the Glassnote Entertainment team as Head of Digital where I was already flying to SFO to meet with Apple/iTunes and buying digital display ads as Mumford & Sons was accepting their Grammy for ‘Album of the Year’ before I first stepped into the office. That pretty much set the tone for my incredible, but short-lived time there.

Meeting Gray (my husband) pulled me to the west coast where I stepped off the plane and headed to my first XRAY.FM formation meeting with Relapse Records Founder, Matt Jacobson. I volunteered as the “Pre-launch Marketing Maven” (aka Director) for 8 months until the station hit the terrestrial airwaves (KXRY Portland).
During that time I also landed a paid position at CD Baby as one of their first Product Owners - as they were romanticizing fully adopting Scrum.Again, immersing myself into the role, learning as much as I could on problem-solving, roadmapping, change management and implementation I was able to earn the trust of my colleagues and we were able to try new ways of working together. As a result, we got a lot of shit done and I was able to create the first Product Development department which soon incorporated all brands under the family umbrella.
Oh yeah, and during this time I went from volunteering with Women in Music as Vice Chair of Global Communications Committee to co-founding the first Portland Chapter with Maximal Music Sync Founder, Mallory Zumbach…which we still operate today!

Just as others had passed the torch to me, when you feel like you’ve taken a company’s evolution as far as you can, it’s time to pass the torch to others as you move on to something else. My something else was working at a kick-ass digital agency in downtown Portland called Pollinate.
I stretched into a Senior Technical Project Manager role for the company’s proprietary 3D customization technology, Spectrum (not to be confused with the ISP). I worked with brands like Levi’s and Under Armour to seasonally update their online customization offerings for customers from rendering real-time previews all the way through factory production - ensuring that what you see is what you get (WYSIWYG - “whizzy wig”). Remember that I have a B.S. in Textiles so this wasn’t as far out of left-field as it may sound.

A little over a year into really Scrum-ming it up at Pollinate, the music industry called my name again. Actually, Katie Vitolins (Schlosser) asked if I knew anyone that fit a certain bill and would be interested in joining her team at Amazon Music for Artists, to which I replied, “yeah! Me!”
Seriously, what a dream come true. I get to help artists, managers, labels, and distributors figure out ways to make more money through this expansive web of services?! Let’s go!! I was obviously disappointed when the Music Org down-sized and my role was eliminated as a result, however, it gave me an opportunity to try my hand in the Devices Org which only added new D2C tools to my toolbelt.
I wouldn’t change a thing.

And now, I’m here to bring all that experience to you. What’s your story?
